The year 2017 was a productive year of public and private partnerships for Synergeia. Four major PPPs were forged to support the goals of EdGE. Two of these were with SMART Communications, Inc. see related posts). SMART provided a Technocart, each worth P200,000 to 8 of our partner-LGUs in La Union, Benguet, Capiz and Lanao del Norte. The cart contained equipment such as a laptop, 20 tablets, a CD projector, pocket wifi, and learning packages. SMART also supported the promotion and inaugural award of the Seal of Good Education Governance. SMART gave away a learning and communications package worth P1.5 million each, markers and plaques, cash prizes and mobile phones to each of the 24 winners of the Seal.
Another supportive partner was Grolier and Scholastic Books which donated children’s books. These books were distributed to the different schools in the Synergeia sites. Zapanta Foundation underwrote the construction of school buildings and facilities in North Upi, Piagapo and Tarak (see related post). The buildings came complete with tables and chairs for the classroom, toilets and library.
Hofer Development Corporation, another partner, offered to market the agricultural produce of parents of schoolchildren in our various sites. With this partnership, parents would not become prey to traders who buy at very low prices. The LGUs provided the logistics for organizing the market stations. Hofer Development also provided livelihood training programs to the parents.
Jollibee Foundation ran its Busog Lusog Talino Kitchen Project, a school feeding project, 26 public schools in our sites in Agoo, Bacnotan and Luna, all in La Union province.
