This is in line with its belief that all children should have access to high-quality education. Magat Salamat Elementary School in Tondo, Manila is a partner of Citi’s “I Love To Read” Program in partnership with Synergeia. Launched in June 2007, the program is now on its second year of implementation, embracing more than 2,100 Grade 1 and Grade 2 students.

Credit Suisse First Boston is one of the world’s leading financial service providers. In the Philippines, it specializes in investment banking services such as innovative solutions on debt and equity underwriting, sales and trading, mergers and acquisitions, investment research, correspondent and prime brokerage services.

In 2004, CSFB-Phils joined hands with Synergeia in helping 900 grade one pupils from Manuel L. Quezon Elementary School (Tondo, Manila) become good readers in English. After a year of implementation, one-half of grade one pupils can read fluently (compared to 20 percent before the program) and the number of non-readers declined from 40 percent to 19 percent. In a comprehension exam, the average grade one child can answer 7 out of 10 questions correctly. The community is highly motivated by the marked improvements in performance. The program is currently on its second year of implementation.

San Roque Power Corporation

San Roque Power Corporation (SRPC) is a special-purpose company responsible for the operations and maintenance of the power generating facility of the San Roque Multipurpose Project for 25 years. SRPC has enrolled the three municipalities of San Manuel and San Nicolas, Pangasinan and Itogon, Benguet in the Synergeia Education Governance Program. Started in 2007, the program is on its second year sustaining efforts for 6,500 Grade 1 and Grade 2 children to improve and develop their reading and math skills. SRPC takes the lead in supporting other LGUs implementing a Reading Program in Pangasinan by offering its facilities for the conduct of capability building programs for teachers and parents.

Societe Generale de Surveillance (SGS)

SGS Philippines, Inc. is the local affiliate of the global SGS (Societe Generale de Surveillance) Group of Companies which provides services on testing and certification of products and companies. In 2006, SGS and Synergeia, together with the Provincial Government of Misamis Oriental and the Municipality of Magsaysay launched a Reading Proficiency Program to benefit 1,289 Grade 1 children. Magsaysay is a success story where children have attained almost 76 percent in the National Examination in Reading and Math.

STEAG State Power Inc. (SPI)

STEAG State Power Inc (SPI) operates the Mindanao Power Plant. Majority is owned by Evonik Steag GmbH based in Essen, Germany. STEAG specializes in the production of electricity from coal and renewable sources. STEAG partners with Synergeia and the municipality of Villanueva in enabling all Grades 1 and 2 students in 26 elementary schools in Villanueva to read, write and understand English.
