All set for summer mentors’ training in ARMM

April 17, 2009

It was a meeting of the minds as Synergeia’s pool of trainers in Science and Math for the EQuALLS2 project agreed on strategies in carrying out the next round of training for teacher-mentors from Lanao del Sur, Maguindanao, Shariff Kabunsuan and Sulu sites.

The team of very able trainers from Ateneo de Zamboanga University, Notre Dame University, Xavier University and Project JOSIE-Bulacan mapped out the schedule for the three-day core training, and the one-day refresher training in both subjects, which will be conducted starting second week of May.  Joining the team during the exercise was IR2 specialist, Dr. Jeanette Loanzon, who also took the occasion to strengthen camaraderie and fellowship among the trainers.

The workshop was an opportunity for trainers to be further clarified on the training goals and targets under EQuALLS2.  They also assessed previous training based on quality and attitude of participants, content, and overall output, Suggestions for supplemental training also came up during the workshop. The trainers recommended that a training program be provided to school heads, as well as other DepEd officials, to equip them with skills and tools to evaluate and assess mentors’ performance.
