Education reform still a priority in MisOr sites

March 30, 2009

The municipalities of Claveria, Magsaysay and Villanueva in Misamis Oriental gave education reform a heads up during a joint workshop of their respective Project Management Teams. Last March 26,  PMT members of the three towns trooped to Cagayan de Oro City in full force, eager to share their recent accomplishments, discuss issues, and propose solutions in implementing their education programs.

The three municipalities are at different stages of program implementation. Magsaysay is already on its third year. Villanueva and Claveria are both on their second year. While the PMTs have challenges unique to their respective municipalities, they also have had similar experiences. The joint workshop provided them with opportunity for fellowship and a chance to learn from each other’s best practices. Sustaining program activities through local government funding was also discussed, particularly for Villanueva whose program is currently being supported by a private partner, STEAG State Power, Inc.

The PMTs demonstrated a great sense of ownership of their programs and expressed their commitment to push forward regardless of the challenges they faced.
