Magat Salamat Elementary School Holds Its Second “I Love to Read” Summit
Grade 2 parents welcomed the good news from principal Dr. Violeta Q. delos Santos on the I Love to Read Program. Through the collaborative efforts of the community the number of non-readers has been dramatically reduced from 95.45 percent % to 3.96 percent at the end of the school year! “What an amazing feat it was”, she said and acknowledged the support of parents, teachers, Citibank, and Synergeia. The challenge that faces them now is to enable the slow readers to improve their reading skills.
On behalf of Citibank, Aneth Ng Lim, Assistant Vice President for Public Relations & Communications, expressed her gratitude and happiness on the program’s outcome. Ms. Lim shared that what prompted Citibank to engage in this endeavor was due to a report on the significant number of dropouts and inability of children to read well.
The parents engaged in a workshop on what they can contribute to enhance the learning of their children. Mrs. Teresita C. Tadena (Magat Salamat’s Guidance Counselor) gave a talk on the role of the parents in the education of their children.
Dr. delos Santos ended the summit by thanking the parents for their invaluable support to the I Love to Read” program.
